samba error: “session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE” when adding new user

it really strange when i use samba for the first time this error not happened.

but when i add new user to share samba it didn’t work, it continue to produce “session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE”

i tried both using straight connection smb://server/sharename or by smbclient connection.

this error because of failed connection LAN/hosts problem, wrong user name or password, or because of not adding domain name/workgroup (if you tried to connect to windows share).

it turn out my problem is that the password from linux password is not synced with samba password, so you need to add it using the command:

jardiknas.kemdiknas.go.id/?url=

I don’t know what’s wrong with our ISP today.
first my lintas arta ISP forcing us to use their DNS server which – with all due respect – is crap, it has no stability, several times a day the dns is not working (failed to resolve domain names), the alternative is by using nawala dns 180.131.144.144 and 180.131.145.145, at least this one is stable.

Jperf point to point network connection diagnostic

This tool here iperf or jperf, is the one I find very useful in measuring the speed and reliability of a connection either in LAN or through internet/WAN.
and it is cross platform since it is made using java, you just need to install it in each points you want to test, and one or some of them act as server while the rest as client. Continue reading

running application as administrator in regular user login in windows

It’s been an awkward condition in the host I’ve been setting. It is that the application windows live mail unable to run properly in non administrative user. for example, I can’t delete or add contact in user level, but I can do it in administrator level.
There are ways using windows application, but it is not save, since it is still need to insert the password, that it is becomes visible because it is in command prompt. What I’m talking is for windows 2003/xp below, that using runas command to run application using different credential than what currently logging in user.
There are several tools that can do that, here they are: Continue reading

Disabling Superfetch in windows 7 and 8

You know, when you open task manager, in performance tab, you’ll see a new line than in windows xp, there is “cached memory”.
This is supposedly so when you open the application again, it will be faster, but the side effect is that it eats up your RAM, and disastrous result in low physical RAM since it will drive your free RAM to 0, thus snailing your computer.
So to disable it, it will makes your system lag a bit, but at least your RAM will not be reserved for cache…
There are two steps, first is editing the registry and second is disabling the service.

– Editing the registry: Continue reading

WIndows Phone 8 Blue Screen of Death

This Just happened to my newly bought Nokia Windows Phone 625H.
I used to put the phone in my pants pocket along with other “debris”, just like my old Samsung S2 phone in other pocket.
One day, when I pulled up my WP out from my pocket, it dead, so I start it up, and in continue to restart and showed blue screen for a time before it dead again.
Thing happened like my old android phone, so looking for solution, I look on the internet on how to factory reset WP, and different than android, here how to factory reset it, do it sequentially, not all at once:
– Push power.
– Immediately push and hold volume down key until you see ! (exclamation point).
– Then you push Volume Up.
– Then push Volume Down.
– Then you push Power.
– Then you push Volume Down.

If you do it right it will reset the phone to factory reset, and please immediately update the phone to the latest build.
And there I need to download my applications again, what a bummer.

The picture is too large and will be truncated

There is an error that microsoft seems to happen that not related with the description it is thrown:

This error: “The picture is too large and will be truncated”
It was triggered in my case when I copy (ctrl+c) a column in excel, which was contain only text/number, no picture.
After researching in the internet, I find that this error is triggered because of some conflict with the clip board.
So there are two things that can modify the state of clip board: the memory manager (RAM cleaner) program that can erase/optimize memory.
And program that share clip board, like remote connection program Teamviewer.
For the first cause you must terminate the program while you using Office.
For the second cause, just turn of the option to share the clip board
For example with Teamviewer: you go to Extras>Option>Advance>Clipboard synchronization and uncheck it.

Windows live mail working offline

you know there are some strange things happened in one of my client WLM, it was always toggled as working offline. whenever we change it to working online, it always revert back to offline.
after scourging the internet, like always, microsoft link the Internet explorer to their other programs like microsoft explorer and of course their own windows live mail.
so you just go to IE, go to file, and uncheck the working offline option.
